COOKIE DESCRIPTION

FINNISH MUTUAL PATIENT INSURANCE COMPANY

The Finnish Mutual Patient Insurance Company (”SKPVY” or ”we”) uses cookies and other online monitoring technologies (“cookies”) on our website (www.fmpic.fi) and in our other services (”services”) and processes the information collected through them (including personal data and other cookie information) (”information”) for the purposes described in this cookie statement and SKPVY’s privacy statement. This cookie description describes what cookies are, what cookies are used for, how you can manage their use, and how to delete or prevent their use. Protecting the privacy of users of our services is very important to us and we strive to be as transparent as possible about the use of cookies and the processing of data.

1. WHAT ARE COOKIES?

A cookie is a small text file that is stored in your browser when you visit a website. When we refer to cookies in this privacy statement, this also includes other similar technologies and tools that collect and store information in your browser and, in some cases, transmit such information to third parties in the manner of cookies. These are for example pixels, local storage, session storage, and browser fingerprint recognition.

We use different types of cookies in our services:

  • Session-specific cookies are stored on your device during a browser session. These session cookies expire at the end of the browser session (normally when the user leaves the browser).
  • Persistent cookies are stored on your device between browser sessions, allowing your preferences or actions on the website (or in some cases on different websites) to be remembered and preserved until you delete it yourself. This applies to local storage.
  • Periodic cookies have a predetermined lifespan. The lifespan may vary depending on the cookie.

Cookies collect information about your use of the website and store the information on your device, for example to help you log in to the website, track and analyse your visits to our website and your browsing behaviour in order for our website to work, or to operate more efficiently.

The use of cookies allows e.g. the following:

  • The smooth technical functionality of our services and the basic functionalities involved (such as login).
  • It is easier for you to use our services.

Please note that the use of cookies allows our services to function fully and, for example, certain functions of our website may not work without cookies as they should. Cookies can be used to collect for example the following information:

  • IP-address;
  • Time of visit;
  • Pages used and time spent on them;
  • Browser type and operating system;
  • From which web address and from which server have our services been visited, and to which web address has it been switched since.

Cookies may be set by our services, such as our website (“first-party cookies”) or by our partners, such as analytics services (“third-party cookies”). To clarify this, Third Party Cookies are cookies set by someone other than the person responsible for the website, in this case someone other than SKPVY, i.e. our partner or another website. These third-party cookies may be set through elements of other websites on our website, such as images, social media extensions or advertising.

Please note that the services of our partners and other third parties are subject to their own privacy and cookies policies, and that SKPVY is not responsible for the collection or processing of information by these operators, including cookies and other tracking technologies and links. We encourage you to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of those third-party services.

2. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES

We use third-party cookies on our website. SKPVY uses external platforms for digital communication, including Google Analytics service. These platforms use both first-party and third-party cookies and similar technologies to advertise and track advertising results.

Several websites may use third-party cookies to understand and track how you browse different websites. SKPVY receives information about these cookies, but the information may also be used for other purposes specified by third parties. Third-party cookies found on our website are subject to the privacy policies of that third party. For more information about their privacy practices, see what other purposes third parties may use the information for.

More information about the third-party cookies used on our website is available in the cookie chart. For more information on how we process personal information in connection with a transfer to a third party, please see our Privacy Statement.

3. WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF USING COOKIES AND THE INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM THEM?

We and our partners use cookies and process the information we collect from them for a number of different reasons. In order to control which cookies are used and to determine how cookies can be used when you visit our website, we have divided the cookies we use into four different categories. These categories are defined based on the uses of cookies and the information collected by cookies. The cookie table attached to this description shows which category each cookie belongs to, for what purposes the cookie is used and for how long it is active. We have divided cookies into the following four categories. All categories contain third-party cookies that may be used to transfer information to third parties.

Necessary cookies
These cookies are needed for our websites to operate safely and properly. Necessary cookies allow you to browse our website and allow us to provide the service you want. Necessary cookies enable the basic functions of the website, such as navigation on the page and the use of protected areas of the pages. We do not need your consent to set these cookies, but you can still disable them by changing your browser settings. However, this affects the operation of the website, in which case some essential functions may not work. Your device can be identified and distinguished from other devices by information that it sends automatically, such as its IP address or browser type.

Preference cookies
Using these cookies, the website stores information that changes the website’s behaviour and appearance, such as your choice of language or location, to improve your user experience.

Statistical cookies
These cookies help us understand how you interact with the websites by collecting and reporting your information anonymously.

Marketing cookies
Marketing cookies are used to create customised and relevant advertisements for customers and website visitors based on their browsing behaviour. These cookies are used to evaluate the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, as well as for targeted marketing and profiling, regardless of the device(s) used. The information collected for this purpose may also be combined with other customer and brokerage information, provided that the customer or website visitor consents thereto, and that person has not objected to the use of the customer information for marketing purposes..

We do not currently use marketing cookies.

Personal data
You can read more about the processing of personal data collected by cookies in the privacy policy here. Please state your consent ID and date stated in section 6 when you contact us regarding your consent.

4. HOW CAN YOU MANAGE AND DELETE COOKIES?

We will save your cookie selection for 12 months unless you cancel your consent. We will then ask for your consent again. If you make changes to the settings, the information about the changes will be saved for 14 days.

If you do not accept our use of cookies, or if you have previously accepted and changed your mind, you can return to your cookie settings at any time and manage your choices. You can change the cookie settings or withdraw your consent completely using the links in section 6 of the Cookie Description. You can then select the desired cookie category or deselect the desired cookie category by checking or unchecking the boxes you want and the clicking “Allow selection”. You may need to update your website for the settings to take effect. You may also need to change your browser settings and manually delete cookies to clear your device form previously set cookies.

Browser settings
Alternatively, most web browsers allow you to manage most cookies using your browser settings. You can find more information about how you can manage cookies in your browser on the browsers’ own websites. Below are instructions for managing cookie settings for the most popular browsers:
Google Chrome
Internet Explorer

Safari

When you enable the “do not follow” feature or if you block cookies
If you have enabled the “do not follow” feature in your browser settings, we will not automatically set marketing cookies on your device. You can make another selection in Cookie Settings by clicking on the “Cookies” icon.

If you block all cookies in your browser settings, the functionality and performance of our website may be impaired by certain features that depend on cookies. Thus, blocking cookies may cause the website services to not work properly and some of the necessary functionalities may not work at all.
